Magnolia Meals at Home

Magnolia Meals at Home Program

Cancer Support Community is pleased to be partnering with Meals on Wheels Association of America and CancerCare to pilot a program sponsored by Eisai Women’s Oncology Program to help meet the needs of people living with breast cancer and their families.  The Magnolia Meals at Home program will provide meals prepared to meet the nutritional needs of those with breast cancer.  The pilot program will focus on two geographic areas -- patients living within a 25 mile radius of Woodcliff Lake, NJ and Andover, MA.  Patients may enroll to receive meals from their local Meals on Wheels once a month for six months.  Each delivery will include up to 7 meals for the patient and 10 meals for family members.  The goal of the program is to ease the stress of shopping for and preparing meals for breast cancer patients and their families providing for greater personal and/or family time.  Patients of any income level are eligible if they fit the following criteria:

  • Currently undergoing chemotherapy, radiation or hormone therapy
  • Have undergone chemotherapy or radiation therapy in the last 3 months
  • Have been discharged from a hospital (admission was cancer related) in the last 3 months
  • Receiving adjuvant or neoadjuvant treatment

Cancer Support Community would like your help in identifying patients who may be eligible and would benefit from the Meals at Home program. If you have a patient who you think might benefit, we ask that you simply provide the portions of the application. Please complete items #1, 2 (name, phone and/or email), 4, 5, and 7. Please note that we do not require a physician note to verify the patient’s eligibility (as requested in item 6), but do need to ensure that item 5 is completed. Eligibility may be confirmed by other clinical staff including the nurse or social worker. Return the form to Julie Taylor by email (jtaylor@cancersupportcommunity.org) or fax (434-384-0247).

Ms. Taylor will then contact the patients to provide them with more information about the program and if they agree, work with them or their caregivers to complete the application form and enroll them with Meals on Wheels.  If you have questions or would like to discuss the program in more detail, please contact Ms. Taylor by email or phone (434-384-0247).  CSC is excited to be able to offer this program and we hope to be able to work with you to provide this service to your breast cancer patients.
